What are Guitar Effects Pedals?
If you are a fan of a certain musical band, then you most likely want to be able to play their songs and sound like them. Their great frustration is being able to play their favorite band’s songs but they fail when it comes to sounding like them. Guitar effects can now be achieved using guitar effects pedals which can help you copy the sounds that your favorite band produces. Perhaps you have heard about these but have not tried getting one for yourself. Having a guitar effects pedal is the best way to produce sounds that can copy your favorite band sounds. There are individual effect pedals but they only produce one kind of sound out of thousands of different sounds. You need to decide what sound you are trying to achieve so that you can choose the right individual effect pedal.
So what you can do is to visit your local music store and try out different effect pedals so that you can hear the sounds for yourself. If you love punk, meta, blues overdrive, grunge, etc. then you can try the distortion pedals which produce sounds for these music genres. You activate the sound by stepping on the pedal once while you play your guitar. You turn on the sound by steeping once, and you need to step on the pedal again to turn it off. You can only find the sound that you like by trying the different pedals. All pedals are activated by stepping on it once and it is stopped by stepping on the pedal again. The digital delay effect is another pedal that produces a low repetition of the last note played. If you want a smooth element to your sound, then you can try the chorus effect. They also follow the same operation for activation and stopping.
You will also find pedals that operate in a different way. One example is the wah pedal which is activated by a single step on the pedal but the pedal has to be rocked back and forth to produce the wah effect. There are also volume pedals that you rock pack and forth to increase or decrease the volume gradually. Another rocking back and forth pedal function is the whammy pedal which simulates the whammy bar of an electric guitar. This is ideal if your guitar does not have a whammy or if you don’t want to use them.
Another kind of guitar effects pedal is the multi-effects pedal. This is a single pedal that provides many different effects. It is expensive because you get many effects but economical because you only need to buy one unit. For one multi-effect pedal you can distortion pedal, single tap action, rocking pedal for wah, volume and whammy effects. Many say that the quality of multi-effect pedals is inferior to the individual pedals.
